Outline of the accident

Sea Land Youth Center, a 3-storied building located at Baekmi-ri, Seosin-myeon, Hwaseong-gun, Gyeonggi-do, had a fire on June 30, which resulted in 23 people¡¯s dying (including 19 kids of Somang Kindergarten at Munjeong-dong, Songpa-gu, Seoul).
Around 01:35 hours, the flame, together with the explosive noise, shot up and in the twinkling of an eye, it spread to the whole lodging building. The witness said, ¡°When I ran to the room number 301 as soon as children¡¯s screams were heard, I found it filled with smoke already.

Around 02:30 hours, one hour later after the fire broke out, 50 fire trucks from Suwon and Anyang came to the site to put out the fire and to save lives.
However, the building was too old and the mobilization of the fire trucks was too late so when they arrived at the site, the whole building was enveloped in flames already.
Most of the kids got out of it hurriedly, but the kids of Somang Kindergarten sleeping in room number 301 and 302, were suffocated to die.
The firefighters completed to put out the fire around 05:00 hours and commenced to find out the dead bodies and the wounded from the collapsed building heap.
